It’s interesting that, for someone who is an individual world champ with multiple individual Olympic and world championship medals AND held the 200 free WR for over 10 years, Van Almsick never really reached the heights her early talent seemed to promise. She looked like she was set to be an all time great like Fraser or Ledecky, but she’s not even close to the top 20 greatest swimmers ever.

Rules are rules. I came for because of Owen Lloyds disqualification. When Owen jumped into another swimmer's lane, 4 swimmers were still racing. Here we can see lane 7 have 2-3 meters left when Australia decides to jump into lane 5:s lane.

They shouldn't have been disqualified. A DQ should be for doing something against the rules that gives you or an advantage. Not for anything under the sun.
